Hereford is a county town and civil parish that is located in Herefordshire on the River Wye. It is approximately 60 miles away from the border of Wales and 23 miles away from Gloucester. It has a population of around 56,000 and it is thought to have been a major settlement in the Anglo-Saxon times.
The area is mainly known for being a centre of trading for rural and agricultural areas and there are many products that are made in the area such as beer, cider, leather items, poultry, cattle, chemicals and nickel alloys. In terms of agriculture the area is particularly well known for the famous Hereford breed of cattle.
The town has many visitors each year as it is a picturesque parts of the country that have many interesting buildings including The Old House which dates back to Jacobean times and is a museum that contains many items relating to the history of Hereford.
