Richmond became part of Greater London in 1965 and has become one of outer-London's significant local commercial centres.
The main transport links are based around Richmond station, which is on the district line as well as having good rail links to Waterloo, Reading and Clapham.
Daily parking is available in a number of multi-storey car parks. However, long-term parking is more scarce as the number of paid spaces is restricted and resident permit holder restrictions operate throughout the town. Therefore private parking spaces can cost up to £160 per month.
