St Katharines Dock is situated in London by Tower Hamlets and these docs want to serve London as commercial docks.
Today instead of being part of a commercial area they are popular for leisure complexes and housing. The docs took their name from St Katharine's by the Tower hospital which was built in the 12th century.
The docks themselves were first opened in 1826 and at first they were not able to accommodate larger ships. They were eventually amalgamated with London docks in 1864 which meant they were able to handle many more ships which brought more money to the area.
"Great place to place an ad, helpful and knowledgeable. Thanks for all the help."
