Wapping is an area that is in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and it is close to the River Thames and is part of the Dockalnds area. When the London Docks were built a lot of the buildings that were in place were destroyed and during the Blitz even more of the area was damaged.
After the Second World War the area fell into decline and a lot of the huge warehouses were left derelict. However during the 1980s the London Docklands Development Corporation started converting these warehouses and turned them into luxury apartments.
There is evidence to suggest that this area was first settled by the Saxons and from the 18th century onwards there had been a strong maritime connection to the area. Today Wapping is a popular place for people interested in maritime history to visit as there is a littoral zone where people are allowed to go and find items that are centuries old.
Top service with very friendly staff. Good rates and communication.
