Bromley Civic Centre is located in Bromley, a substantial town situated in the London borough of Bromley in South East London. The building the Civic Centre is a part of, is a grade two listed dwelling, formerly known as Bromley Palace, which was a manor house where the Bishop of Rochester lived from the 12th century to 1845 until he sold it. It was a girls finishing school in the 1920s followed by a teacher training college in 1935. The building had two extensions during this time. The college shut down in 1980 and an extensive regeneration occurred to establish what is now known as the Civic Centre, the London Borough of Bromley relocated there in 1982.
The old palace, where the Bromley Civic Centre sits has its own luscious grounds including a lake which are open to the public throughout normal opening times for the council offices.
