The lively town of Chipping Norton has an assortment of festivals throughout the year, including the well-renowned Chipping Norton Literary Festival. The medieval market place is where the majority of the events and festivals take place. Staying in house, talk a walk around the town and see the Bliss Mill, the town hall and the Almshouses, before stopping into Chipping Norton Museum to learn all about it’s rich woollen history.
It is in a perfect location to explore neighbouring towns and villages, such as the beautiful Bourton-the-water (25 minute drive), Burford known as the gateway to the Cotswolds (20 minute drive) or Stow-on-the-Wold that’s home to some of the best antique shops (20 minute drive). Another short drive away is Moreton-on-the-marsh, home to the Batsford Park Arboretum, that sits in 55 acres, with well over 2,900 trees. Included in the gardens is the national collection for Japanese flowering cherries, called the Sakura. It is a wonderful little afternoon out.
For those with children, Fairytale Farm is a perfect family day out, especially the enchanted walk which is a street that is inhabited by fairy tale characters, like goldilocks and Little Red Riding hood, along with hands on activities, different sensors and animatronics, it’s loved by adults and kids alike.
