The station opened in December 2016 as part of a government programme to improve railway services and meet projected increases in demand.
The new station and interchange allows railway passengers from Fife and further north to transfer onto tram for onward travel to Edinburgh Airport, while also providing better connections for people travelling through Edinburgh.
Edinburgh Gateway Station facilities include a waiting room, Wi-Fi, baby changing room, ticket machines, and toilets. The ticket office is staffed part-time, open Monday to Saturday, 06:10 to 00:10, and Sunday, 08:40 to 00:10. A step-free bridge provides access to the platforms and the lifts and escalators that connect to the tram stop. An underpass beneath the A8 gives pedestrian access from the close by Gyle shopping centre.

Parking ideal for travel onwards using tram into city we were going to Murrayfield to watch concert our only hiccup was our sat nav took us to a closed barrier we could see hotel we wanted to go to beyond this ,other side of road was clear so we just went round it
