Evesham is a town of around 24,000 people in the area of Worcestershire, about an hour’s drive from Birmingham. The town dates back to around 700AD when the Evesham Abbey was founded here. It was more than 300 feet high and occupied a site of around 90,000 square feet. Today, only the bell tower which was built in the 16th century remains.
The town is surrounded by the River Avon, which is a great spot for rowing. The Evesham Rowing Club was established in 1863 and welcomes everyone from absolute beginners to professionals. There are a couple of parks in the centre of town, including the Crown Meadow which connects to Abbey Park. The town is home to the Riverside Shopping Centre, the historic St Lawrence's Church, and the Evesham Leisure Centre.
