Glasgow Prestwick Airport is located 1.2 miles (1.9km) northeast of the town of Prestwick in South Ayrshire. It is 32 miles (51km) from the Glasgow city centre, approximately a 40-minute drive on the M77 and A77.
It is an international airport that serves the west of Scotland and is Scotland’s fifth busiest airport in terms of passenger traffic. It is the less busy of the two airports serving the area, with the busier being Glasgow Airport, which is located within the Greater Glasgow urban area itself.
The boom in low-cost carriers, such as RyanAir which uses the airport as a base, saw passenger numbers peak in 2007 at 2.4 million. Since then, passenger traffic has declined significantly to under 700,000 passengers (2015-2018).

Glasgow Prestwick Airport is a 40 minute drive from the centre of Glasgow via the M77 and A77. The airport provides drop off and pick up as well as a short stay car park and a long stay car park.
