Launceston Castle is thought to have been built around 1068 and still stands to this day. The grounds surrounding the castle are a popular spot to enjoy a picnic lunch while taking in the view of the town, and the tower top has unbeatable views of the countryside and town. You can explore the exhibition and learn the history of the castle, and then pick up a souvenir from the shop.
The Launceston Steam Railway is a 5-mile round trip along the old North Cornwall Railway. The trains are all restored Victorian steam locomotives; the oldest is 136 year old, and the youngest is 118. A standard ticket is valid for unlimited travel on the day of issue, so you can take as many of the hourly trains as you like! There is a museum, a gift shop, a buffet meal, and it’s the perfect way to travel to the New Mills Farm Park.
New Mills Farm Park is the perfect place to bring the family, with a petting zoo and play barn, trampolines, giant slides, adventure climbing, zip wire, badminton, cricket, and go-karts. There’s also a café and a B&B in a converted 18th-century mill.
