The Saatchi Gallery was opened by Iraqi-British businessman Charles Saatchi in 1985, with the aim of showcasing his vast collection of contemporary art to the public. It’s one of the most visited galleries in the world, and due to Saatchi’s taste for new and unknown artists, it has provided a springboard to launch the careers of several emerging stars. It is known in particular for its support of Jenny Saville, Gavin Turk, Rachel Whiteread and the Chapman Brothers.
