Northala Fields is a park with a lake and playgrounds on Kensington Road in the Northolt area, about 15 minutes’ drive from Harrow, and 40 minutes’ drive from the centre of London. It’s also just 15 minutes’ drive from Heathrow Airport.
You’ll find two playgrounds, a model boating lake, six fishing lakes, and three wildlife ponds across 27.5 hectares of open space. It opened in 2008 and was awarded a Green Flag in 2009. The park is open to pedestrians and cyclists 24 hours a day, with a number of stands to lock your bike up throughout the park.
There is also a visitors' centre which has a café, public toilets, classrooms for educational visits, and a fishing office where you can find out about the fishing opportunities in the lakes in the park. The hills in the park are constructed on rubble from the demolition of the original Wembley Stadium. From the top, you can enjoy unbeatable views of London.
The Get Hooked on Fishing programme operates in the park. They’re a charity which works with young people and teaches them about fishing. For a small fee, you can apply for a fishing license from the council, which will allow you to fish in the lake.
