Where is Porthmadog?
Porthmadog is located in the north of Wales, near the Snowdonia National Park (the largest National Park in Wales).
What is there to do in Porthmadog?
You can take a train ride through the Snowdonia National Park to see the beautiful sights, or take a trip out to the Black Rock Sands beach. There is also a maritime museum, which will teach you all about the town’s maritime history.

With 823 square miles of mountains, lakes, and greenery, Snowdonia National Park has all the space you could ever want to stretch out your legs. Here, you’ll find the highest mountain in England and Wales and the largest natural lake in Wales. You’ll also find swimming pools, fitness rooms, badminton and squash courts, and climbing walls. There are also several railways that run through the park, so you can relax and enjoy the view.
Can I take my dog to Black Rock Sands beach?
Dogs are allowed on some parts of the beach, and must be kept on a lead in others. The beach supervisors have dog bags so you can clean up after them. Please note that these restrictions don’t apply to guide dogs.
