The Barbican Centre is located within the City of London and serves as a multipurpose performing arts centre. It hosts a cinema, a theatre, an art gallery, a library and a hall, as well as a number of restaurants and conference rooms. It is currently the home of the London Symphony Orchestra. It was a location for one of the most iconic scenes of the 1971 film A Clockwork Orange. The Barbican Centre building itself is one of the best example of brutalist architecture.

The centre is served by a dedicated tube station – Barbican Underground station. This is served by the Circle, Metropolitan, and Hammersmith & City Lines. These provide links to King’s Cross St Pancras, Euston Square, Wembley, and Tower Hill. To secure a parking space near the Barbican Centre it is advisable to book a space in advance.

There are a wealth of activities to do in the area surrounding the Barbican Centre, even without taking the actual centre into account. The Museum of London is a short walk away and St Bartholomew-the-Great is one of the oldest churches in London dating back to the early 12^th century. Smithfield Market is one of the largest meat markets in Europe and dates back to Victorian times.
