Wythenshawe Hospital is located on Southmoor Road in the Wythenshawe area of southern Manchester. It’s about 25 minutes’ drive from the centre of Manchester. 

Each hospital bed has a Hospedia unit which offers free TV from 8am to midday (channels 1 to 5), and all TV channels from 7am to 7pm on children’s wards. It also has a phone and free radio and information services. For an extra cost, you will have access to up to 29 TV channels, more than 70 movies, Sky Sports, and internet. Outgoing calls from your bedside phone to 01, 02, 03 numbers are free, however, calls to mobile phones will cost 25p per minute. Incoming calls cost 50p per minute. 

If you want to bike to the hospital, you will find bike storage outside the Outpatients Department. The Security Office overlooks this area, so you won’t have to worry about the security of your bike. There are also wheelchairs available at most entrances to the hospital for patients and visitors to use. The hospital has a chapel and prayer room which are open 24 hours a day and offer a range of regular services.

Parking at Wythenshawe Hospital

There is on-site parking at Wythenshawe Hospital, however, this space is limited and it is recommended that you use public transport whenever possible. 

The main car park of Wythenshawe Hospital can be found in front of the Acute Block at Entrance 3. Thus car park and four smaller visitor car parks can be accessed from Southmoor Road. The other car parks here are as follows:

The car park for the Maternity Unit is located to the south of the hospital at entrance 13, and can be accessed from Floats Road.

There are concession tickets available for frequent visitors to the hospital. This ticket costs £13.00 and is valid for six exits of the car park; there are no limits on the amount of time you use the ticket for. 

You can purchase an all-day ticket for £3.00. If there are delays with your appointment, you can talk to the ward or department that you’re visiting to be given the concession form to fill out. 

Lost tickets can be replaced for £10.00. You will need to visit the Security Office near the outpatients entrance to the hospital. 

Wythenshawe Hospital also has a park and ride service which runs from 10:30am to 3pm from Monday to Friday. It leaves from between Entrance 5 and 6 and heads to and returns from the Oxford Road Campus every hour. It’s free for staff, but patients and visitors will have to pay £1 cash to the driver.
