Birmingham has five Controlled Parking Zones (CPZ), so it is important to be aware of parking restrictions when parking in Birmingham.
A Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) is an area where all on-street parking is controlled. Look out for signs to tell you about the restrictions when you enter a zone. Parking is only allowed in parking bays, and yellow line restrictions apply everywhere else. Other parking restrictions to look out for include:
Double yellow lines, where you can't park or wait at any time.
Single yellow lines, where you can only park at certain times. Be sure to check the signs when parking on these.
Residents’ parking schemes are also in place. Residents living within the area of the scheme can apply for a Resident Parking Permit, provided they can prove they are a resident and have a vehicle registered where they live.
There may be additional parking restrictions on bus routes and main roads to keep traffic moving at busy times in the city centre. It is also important to be mindful of restrictions around busy shopping areas and in residential areas around schools, junctions and crossings.
