Information about parking in Abingdon
Abingdon, located in Oxfordshire on the banks of the River Thames is a scenic Market Town that has been inhabited since the Iron Age and as a result has a number of archaeological sites of particular historical interest.
The town has not had a station since Abingdon railway station was closed in 1963. Nowadays, the closest station is located either in Culham or Radley, just over two miles from the town. However, there are some bus services that connect the town to the home counties. When planning a visit to Abingdon it can often work out cheaper and be easier to book your parking in advance.
Though it is only a relatively small town, Abingdon is filled with interesting attractions. Of particular note is Abingdon abbey, which was founded in Saxon times and has over 1000 years of history. It is often believed that William the Conqueror celebrated Easter 1084 at Abingdon Abbey.
