Seaton, also known as Seaton Down, is a seaside town of around 9,000 people about 45 minutes’ drive from Exeter. The Seaton Tramway operates a 3-mile loop through Seaton, Colyford and Colyton in the Axe Valley, following the River Axe estuary through two nature reserves. You can enjoy the scenic view and relax, or take the reins with a driving experience course. You can buy all-day tickets for unlimited travel on any of the trams, and be sure to check out events like the Polar Express tram ride in November. 

The Hooken Cliffs look out over the English Channel and offer stunning views of the water. They’re also near the Beer Beach, which is another dog-friendly beach. You might even find fossils along the cliff since it’s part of the Jurassic Coast, so keep your eyes peeled! 

If you’re interested in the ancient history of the area, be sure to pay a visit to Seaton Jurrasic. It’s the perfect spot to learn about the archeological history of the area, plus you can check out the wildlife garden, the rockpools, and enjoy a bite to eat at the café. 

The Beer Quarry Caves are located in the nearby town of Beer. Beer stone is used in the construction of cathedrals and churches, and the quarry has been used for around 2,000 years. Places such as the London Bridge, St Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, and Windsor Castle all use beer stone in their construction. Today, the caves have been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and the quarry is only in use as a tourist attraction.

By Bus: Several bus lines run through Seaton, including 9A, 20, 391, 392, 393, 885, 899, and X9. 

By Car: Seaton is located just off the A3052.
