Electric Ford Transit van due to go on extensive customer trials in 2021

Ford has launched the E-Transit, a pure-electric version of its legendary van range. Featuring a range of up to 217 miles, the E-Transit can still carry up to 1,616kg for the van variant, and 1,967 for chassis cab models.

The electric van market is growing rapidly, and with a Transit EV available, the offering for businesses is getting better and better. Ford has designed the E-Transit to include Pro Power Onboard, which turns the van into a mobile power source. Up to 2.3 kW is available for users for tools and to recharge equipment on location at job-sites.

The powertrain sees a 198 kW electric motor driven by a 67 kWh battery, which can be charged at up to 11.3 kW AC and 115 kW DC. The latter allows a charge to 80% in just over half an hour from ultra-rapid points.

The usual variety of models is available, with 25 possible variants when looking at body, length, roof height, and load weights. Over-the-air updates are available, and an Eco mode looks to extend the van’s range by around 10%.
