Mercedes' new electric flagship goes on sale with a range of more than 450 miles on a charge, starting at £100k

The Mercedes Benz EQS is now available to order for customers in the UK, boasting a huge driving range and advanced technology.

The all-electric version of Mercedes' long-term flagship model - the S Class - the EQS is a technological tour de force. A new MBUX Hyperscreen makes its debut with multiple displays combineded seemlessly under one piece of curved glass, 141 centimeters wide. Available on AMG Line Premium models and up, it will cost £7,995.

Under the skin, Mercedes Benz has packed in a huge battery at 107.8 kWh in capacity, enablijg a range of up to 453 miles on a single charge.

The EQS can be recharged at up to 200 kW DC, adding 186 miles of range in just 15 minutes, and allowing for a 10-80% charge in only half an hour. For AC charging, a 22 kW on-board charger is fitted.

More than 330 hp (245 kW) propels everything along, allowing for a 0-62mph time of 6.2 seconds. That's for the launch EQS 450+ model, though at a later date an EQS 580 4MATIC model will arrive with 385 kW and 4.3 seconds 0-62mph time.

All-wheel steering, advanced driver assistance technology, over-the-air updates, and Navigation with Electric Intelligence are all included, the latter automatically planning the best route depending on traffic, change in driving style, and charging reqirements.

Order books are open now, with prices starting at £99,995 for the EQS 450+ AMG Line. All models come with a three-year subscription to Mercedes me Charge, incuding a one-year subscription to Ionity with free ultra-rapid charging. Deliveries are expected to start towards the end of this year.
