New Hyundai KONA Electric launched in UK

The popular crossover EV has received a facelift and improved equipment

Hyundai has announced pricing and specificaiton details for the updated Kona Electric, with prices for the electric crossover starting at £30,125.

As before, the Kona Electric is available with a chouce of two batteries - a 39.2 kWh or 64 kWh pack - which allows for a range of either 189 or 300 miles respectively.

The most noticable change is to the Kona Electric's front end, where a new smoothed-off nose replaces the psuedo-grille that was in place previously. Narrower headlights and sharper surface creases combine to create a fresh look for the compact EV.

Changes are considerable inside as well, with the addition of Hyundai's 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, incorporating BlueLink for connected car services.

The smaller battery pack powers a 100 kW electric motor, whilst models with the larger battery have a 150 kW motor. Both will charge to 80% in around 45 minutes from a 100+ kW DC rapid charger, or around nine hours for the 64 kWh battery and 6 hours for the smaller pack on a typical 7 kW charge point. Both models have a 10.5 kW on-board charger for AC operations.

Trim levels have been shaken up with SE Connect and Premium available on the 39 kWh models, or Premium and Ultimate on the 64 kWh verisons.

The new model is available to order now, with the entry-level Hyundai Kona Electric 29 kWh SE COnnect starting at just over £30,000, and the 64 kWh range starting with Premium trim at £35,225 (both including £3,000 Plug-in Car Grant).
