Having interviewed the founder of World EV Day - Ade Thomas - we have heard how the e-mobility community is crucial to the success of the event. It is the groups of people that will make this, the third iteration of World EV Day - delayed due to the death of Her Majesty The Queen - the success it will surely be.
However, there are a number of organisations and businesses that are backing the event, marking the day in a myriad different ways. We’re rounding up what’s going on, starting if we may with our own support for e-mobility.

Recognising the important of parking spaces in the application of EV charging points, YourParkingSpace is embracing an electric future, for both private and commercial spaces.
Perhaps one of the most international efforts to mark World EV Day comes from Driven to Extremes, with support from Kia UK, Kumho Tyre UK, DFDS, and Newspress. A Euro EV Marathon has departed Oslo, and aiming to arrive in Lisbon on World EV Day, having covered 3,600 miles in five days - all in a pure-electric Kia EV6 Air.
It’s not a direct route either, taking in 15 countries during the 120 hour effort, inspired by an endurance test completed by Sir Stirling Moss 70 years ago. Borders between Nowray, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, Italy, Monaco, Andorra, Spain, and Portugal will be crossed, with a team of four drivers sharing the driving, covering around 200 miles each leg.
Clearly, although featuring an impressive driving range of more than 300 miles on a charge, the Kia EV6 will need to charge en route, and will rely wholly on the public EV charging infrastructure to complete the trek.
Other manufacturers have already announced their plans to mark World EV Day, with more expected to be revealed on the day itself. However, we already know that Polestar will be holding its first World EV Day Polestar gathering.
Owners are invited to head along to one of the brand’s Spaces - Solihull, Manchester, or London Westfield - or its Milton Keynes test drive hub, for a chance to get other Polestar 2 owners, chat to product specialists, and find out more about what Polestar has in store over the next few years - all with free refreshments.
The Citroen EVent will run over three days from World EV Day, knocking £750 off the brand’s pure-electric models. With the Citroen e-C4 and e-Berlingo, plus it’s Ami quadricycle, Citroen has a substantial retail electric range, supported by zero-emission vans, and plug-in hybrids in the shape of the C5 X and C5 Aircross.
Arnold Clark is holding an event at its Innovation Centre in Glasgow, a pioneering multi-brand showroom and EV education centre. Motability is hosting two Q&A sessions on Facebook during the day for those looking at going electric, and the City & Guilds qualification body has launched a campaign to improve standards in EV charge point installation.
EV charging payment platform Mina is holding a meet-up at its Sheffield offices, inviting local businesses to learn more about the world of EVs.
