Well, that was embarrassing! “Excuse me, who are you?” Not the words you want to hear the first time using an app to park your brand new car for the day. I promised to help a friend with a big move and needed somewhere to park for a few hours without worry. I’d heard about this app so decided to give it a go. I downloaded it, booked, paid and tried my best to arrive and more importantly vacate on time. I arrived to vacate one minute before my booking ended. As I’m getting I my car the front door of the house opens. “Excuse me, who are you?” I was shocked as I thought I’d parked at the wrong house by mistake. I got out of my vehicle which I was only halfway in to begin with to show the owner my completed and paid booking on the app. I offered to send her a screenshot of my paid booking along with my vehicle registration. She said she never received notice of the booking. She’d only had a painter around and it wasn’t his car. Sadly it was only then that I realised how silly I was parking my brand new car on someone’s private property for an entire day. I had no idea who this person was. They had no idea who I was, yet I was parked on their property. I’m risk adverse and this was too much for me. The owner’s tone was not aggressive, I don’t want to give the wrong impression. But I won’t return to this location (or in fact use this app) again. All I wanted was to park without hassle. Instead I ended up embarrassed, having my identity and ownership of my property questioned. Not to mention I left horrified thinking that my car could have been towed, the police could have been called… I realised that I put far too much trust in this app, and too many expectations on a stranger to handle the transaction in my own interest. and that I put too much trust in an app and ultimately someone else’s private management of space. I think it’ll stick with the pricey secured parking companies. One star since this is the first time I’ve had my identity questioned getting in my own car. Owner should have verified with the app first before confronting a customer.

Easy to find, plenty of space off road parking in a safe residential street. Very convenient for getting into centre of London as district line tube station is just round the corner.
