Prysten House is the oldest surviving building in Plymouth, dating all the way back to around 1498. It is a Grade I listed building owned by the Plymouth City Council. Until 2015, it operated as a museum, but the restaurant is still open today.
The Royal Citadel is a fortress built in the 17th century to defend the coastline, and is still used as a military establishment to this day. Since this is an operational military establishment, you can only access the citadel through a guided tour. With security checks, the tour will take about 2 hours and cost £10 per person. The actual steps don’t exist anymore, however, there is a granite block where they are thought to have been, as well as a commemorative portico that was built in 1934.
