On-street parking

On-street parking restrictions apply throughout Ayr. Parking incorrectly, such as on double yellow lines, in a bus lane, across cycle lanes or in residents' parking bays will result in a fine.

Always check signs and marking on the road before leaving your car.

Pay and Display

Throughout Ayr, you can find designated pay and display parking bays, which are indicated by appropriate lines and signs. 

Tariffs and charging hours will be indicated on the associated sign and payment machine. 

Charges apply all year round with the exception of Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Payment needs to be made by coins at the relevant payment machine or via the cashless payment system operated by RingGo.

Off-street Parking

There are numerous off-street car parks located throughout Ayr which offer options for longer-term parking. These are operated by Ayrshire Roads Alliance. 

Charges and conditions of use vary from car park to car park and indicated on signs as you enter the car park.

By Car: Ayr is located within a 40-minute drive from Glasgow and 1.40 minutes from Edinburgh. 

By Train: Ayr railway station is located in the city centre and is managed by Scott Rail.

Blue Badge holders have the right to park within any Pay and Display car park free of charge.

Vehicles displaying a valid Blue Badge may also be parked on single or double yellow lines without time restriction provided there are no loading restrictions and they do not cause an obstruction to other road users or pedestrians.
