Information about parking in Stadium of Light
The Stadium of Light is one of the largest football stadiums in England. It has been the home of Sunderland AFC since 1997, when they moved from Roker Park where they had played since 1897. The name of the stadium is inspired by the historic links Sunderland has to the mining industry and the thousands of miners who spent their days underground before returning to the light in the evening. Sunderland AFC, often nicknamed The Black Cats, have won 6 league titles and 2 FA cups.
Sunderland railway station is located roughly 15 minutes from the Stadium of Light and there is also the Stadium of Light metro station which connects to Newcastle. There is limited parking at the ground and a resident only parking scheme in effect in the immediate vicinity. This means it is easiest to secure your parking space in advance of arrival and is generally much quicker and cheaper than other alternatives.
There is a Fan Zone located at the Stadium of Light that features live music and food and drink outlets. There are also a wide variety of pubs, bars, and restaurants in the city centre. There are also some great attractions and things to do in the area such as Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens and the Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art.

Great online facility. Arrived at nearby hotel to get car pass in a secure waterside car park for a weekend stay in the city. Parked cheaper than many city centre parks and parking extended to end of the day enabling more time site seeing, Will use them again.Huw
Parking area is behind a nightclub which first impressions looks a bit rough. However parked up and car left over Friday and Saturday night and it was perfectly safe. It is monitored by a security company who had been and put tickets on illegally parked vehicles. I followed the directions given by another reviewer and they were spot on. Hotel across the road was very helpful. I would use this space again as is close to millienium bridge and access to the city.Zdena

Excellent secure parking, easy to find, friendly staff on reception. I would definitely use again.Steven
I thought it was very value for money and the car was safe where it was parked and I would defiantly recommend it to anyone! We had never been to Newcastle before and the hotel we stayed in didn't have a car park so it was a god send we found this ... plus our hotel was just 5 mins round the corner so we could keep going checking to see if it was okay and it was! £14 for two days is not bad at all and it was the best option for us!!Jessica
Plenty of support from YourParkingSpace. All questions answered quickly. I am always a little bit dubious when I try something new but everything went ok on the administrive side and got my refund at the end of the booking. My only problem was with the owner of the the drive I was parked in. He tried to clean off the bird crap from my car after it had been stood for so long and inadvertently scratched it. I had to polish out the scratches with t-cut. That's life !Roger
Great location for match day parking, friendly welcome, combination padlocked gate. Confident my car was safe for the duration of my stay. Easy to book and very reasonable price. Definitely would use again.Mark
Great little car park at Bowling Club, found quite easily with sat nav. About 12 minute walk from St. James Park for Newcastle match. (saves hunting around for match day parking which we noticed is over £7 at local private car parks). Good communication via email, if you need to make contact with owner/representative. Make sure you get code for gate, just in case it is locked.Anthony
