Rent a Stadium of Light Parking Space
The Stadium of Light is one of the largest football stadiums in England and it has a capacity of 49,000. It has been the home of Sunderland AFC since 1997, when they moved from Roker Park football ground where they had played since 1897. It is to the south of the River Wear and it is a popular venue in the north east. The current owner of the stadium is Stewart Donald and he took over in 2018.
The name of the stadium is inspired by the historic links Sunderland has to the mining industry and the thousands of miners who spent their days underground before returning to the light in the evening. Sunderland AFC, often nicknamed The Black Cats, have won 6 league titles and 2 FA cups. Sunderland were once in the premier league but currently play in football league one.
The stadium is also an amazing venue for artists to play live and acts including: The Kings of Leon, Rihanna, Coldplay and Take That have all taken to the stage. In addition to this, the stadium also has excellent banqueting and conference facilities, making it more than just a place to watch football for 90 minutes.
Sunderland railway station is located roughly 15 minutes from the Stadium of Light and there is also the Stadium of Light metro station which connects to Newcastle. There is limited parking at the ground and a resident only parking scheme in effect in the immediate vicinity. This means it is easiest to secure your parking space in advance of arrival and is generally much quicker and cheaper than other alternatives. While there is a park and ride scheme, this can be off putting for some people who want to park closer to the stadium.
There is a Sunderland Fan Zone located at the Stadium of Light that features live music and food and drink outlets and this can get very busy with Sunderland supporters on match days. There are also a wide variety of pubs, bars, and restaurants in the city centre, should you wish to eat and drink. There are also some great attractions and things to do in the area such as Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens and the Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art.

Very convenient and efficientLesley
Easy enough to find, not the smartest of places but all fully lit up so no issues. Plenty of large spacesWayne
Great location for the football and good communication. Would use again.Matthew
Ideal place to park to see the city, please note, car park map is incorrect hotel is actually 2-300yds down the street having crossed clayton st parking spaces are very tight especially if other cars are badly parked (most of them)Neil
I thought the location was a little difficult to locate. The sat-nav (dreaded thing!) sent me, to the wrong side of the location, to a pedestrian-ised area. What made it easier, was when I read the description of the location, which mentions OPPOSITE HALFAX BUILDING SOCIETY. Really the best advice would be to head towards the post code supplied BUT look for the location and it is between the Laing Art Gallery and/or the Library and the Northern Goldsmiths shop (big gold clock on the wall). Look for a white/grey scruffy building. Quite difficult to explain exactly, as there are so many bus lanes, one ways, no left/right turns. Google maps it before you set off, do a street view and you won't go far wrong. All in all great value for money at £3.50 all day. We were attending our daughters Graduation and the University links to parking was crazy ! £11.50 and £12.50 just for a few hours. So all in all very pleased and now I know the location, would definitely use again.Stuart
I would HIGHLY recommend using the parking on Fenkle St in Newcastle so easy to find and parked there for 6 hours for £5 can hardly get an hours parking in the town for that price . safe secure parking . TRY IT you wont be disappointed.Carol
Nice and easy to find. Had to go up a few floors to find a space but space was more than big enough. Good, central venue and a decent price. Will definitely use again.Graeme
