The county ground has been the home to Swindon Town FC since 1896. It was the first football league club to install floodlights and was also used as a prisoner of war camp during world war two, with huts on the pitch used to house detainees. Also known as the Robins, Swindon are ranked as the 47th most successful English football team of all time domestically.
The ground is roughly 25 minutes away from Swindon Train Station, which is an important railway junction and provides services to London Paddington, Bristol Temple Meads and Cardiff Central. It can be easier and cheaper to pre-book a guaranteed parking space near the County Ground.
There is a specially designated bar for away fans, called Bar 71, while there are a wide variety of pubs, restaurants and bars in the local area including The Merlin, The County Hotel and even the Cricket Club, which is available when there is no cricket on.

Easy to find. Very accommodating, friendly, owner. The walk to Allianz Park was much longer than anticipated at a brisk, slightly winding, 30 minutes, but the sun was shining so on this occasion not an issue. Had it been raining, it would have been another story.Haimish
