The striking castle lies upon Castle Hill, a plutonic rock crag which shapes a portion of the Stirling Sill geological formation.

The castle is run by Historic Environment Scotland. The castle esplanade has been used countless times for open-air concerts. Also, the likes of R.E.M, Bob Dylan and Rod Stewart have filmed concert DVDs there.

By Train:

Stirling Station (FK8 1PF) is on Goosecroft Road. The station has arrivals and departures across Scotland to the likes of Glasgow Queen Street, Edinburgh and Inverness. As well as into the capital of England, London Kings Cross.

Stirling Castle is a seven minute car ride, a 15 minute bus journey or a 15 minute walk, making it reachable from any mode of transport.

The Smith Institute is a 10 minute walk away and is serviced by the X10.

Getting off a bus at either the coach station or other bus stops is an eight, 10 or 14 minute walk away.

It is a 15 minute walk from Stirling train station.

By Plane:
