West Middlesex University Hospital is located in the West London suburb of Isleworth. It is a teaching hospital with an Accident and Emergency department, surgery and maternity departments. The hospital first opened as an infirmary in 1894, and in 1920 became known as West Middlesex Hospital. It was also the first hospital in London to be awarded the UNICEF Baby Friendly hospital award in December 2011.
