The Accident and Emergency (A&E) at Whiston Hospital, that is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, sees and cares for well over 105,000 patients yearly, making it the fullest and busiest unit, across the whole of Merseyside. Within the A&E are for key fields: major treatment, resuscitation, minor injuries and paediatrics.

Or the car parks next to the Accident and Emergency department from Dragon Lane (L35 2UF), and by the entrance to the Paediatric unit from Stoney Lane (L35 9JY). There are disabled spaces provided in all car parks. Additionally, a carpark devoted to those disabled is offered outside the front of the main entrance of the hospital.
On level five of the multi-storey car park, a link bridge for pedestrians takes you to the hospital's main entrance by the use of stairs or lifts.
Every car park at Whiston Hospital has a regulated charging system as follows, Monday to Sunday all day:
- Less than 20 minutes - Free
- 20 minute to 1 hour - £1.00
- 1 to 2 hours - £2.20
- 2 to 3 hours - £3.30
- 3 to 4 hours - £4.40
- 4 to 5 hours - £ 5.50
- Over 5 hours - £6.00
Maximum charge for the car parks is £6.00
A pay on foot system is in place in all car parks, so a ticket will be given to you when entering the car park, you can then go to your appointment, or visit someone in hospital or check someone out of the hospital. Then visitors are required to validate their ticket, by paying the correct amount in one of the payment machines before leaving the car park, as the barrier will only open for paid for and authenticated tickets.
At Whiston Hospital there are six machines that take payment, with two located inside the main hospital reception entrance, two in the multi-storey car park on level five and two situated by the Accident and Emergency car park.
Weekly passes are obtainable for £12.00 and are of unlimited use for 7 full days, for those visitors who attended regularly. These can be procured for all public car parks, as well as the multi-storey at all payment machines.
