The Pirelli Stadium, located in Burton-upon-Trent, was built in 2005 to house Burton Albion FC. They are nicknamed the Brewers, as a result of the town’s history of brewing beer. The club were founded in 1950 and played non-league English football until 2009. In 2015, they won the League Two title, gaining promotion to the First Division.
Burton-Upon-Trent Railway Station is located roughly one and a half miles from the Pirelli Stadium and provides services to London, Leeds, Birmingham and Nottingham. There is an official car park at the ground. However, with the sustained success Burton Albion have achieved over the last few years the ground gets increasingly busing and it is generally easier to book your parking space in advance.
As expected by the town’s historic links to brewing, there are a number of pubs in close proximity to the Pirelli Stadium. These include The Beech Inn, The Great Northern, The Roebuck, Denonshire and Cooper’s Tavern. Many of these pubs are also a good place to visit for some food before the match. The National Brewery Centre is another great way to celebrate the towns heritage.
