Keynsham is a town of around 17,000 people, located between Bristol and Bath in Somerset. There is evidence that the site of the town has been inhabited since prehistoric times, and there are a number of Roman villas near the area known as the Keynsham Roman Villa. The largest villa is through to be one the biggest villas constructed in all of Britain. Unfortunately, since parts of the villa are located under a cemetery, major road, and the Somerdale Factory, they haven’t ever been properly excavated.
The town hosts the Keynsham Festival in July in its Memorial Park, which attracts around 16,000 people each year. It used to be home to the Somerdale Factory, which produced Cadbury’s chocolate, until the factory closed down in 2011. The factory opened in 1935, and at its peak employed up to 5,000 people.
