The historic Barrington Court is a 10-minute drive from the centre of Ilminster. It’s an empty Tudor manor house that was restored in the 1920s and has farm buildings, beautiful flowers, and orchards. There are a number of gardens across the estate, as well as a kiosk to get a coffee and a snack, and a store to purchase a souvenir. 

The East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are about 10 minutes’ drive from Ilminster. Rock formations along the coastline date as far back as the Triassic period, and exposed cliffs are great spots to find fossils.
