Cardiff Winter Wonderland parking

There is no dedicated parking at Cardiff Castle or City Hall Lawn, and city centre car parks fill up on busy days. Book a space with YourParkingSpace before you travel and you know where you are parking and what it costs.

Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland returns from 12 November 2026 to 3 January 2027 with an ice rink and Ice Walk in Cardiff Castle grounds, plus the Giant Wheel and fairground on City Hall Lawn. Compare spaces and book in minutes.

Going to Cardiff Christmas Market instead, or as well? It runs from 12 November to 23 December 2026 on St John Street, Working Street, Trinity Street and Hills Street, in the same city-centre area, so the parking advice on this page applies to both.

Dates: Thursday 12 November 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027

Where: Cardiff Castle grounds (ice skating, Ice Walk, Bavarian curling, Tafarn bar, food and drink) and City Hall Lawn (Giant Wheel, family fairground, Sur La Piste ski lodge bar, food and drink)

Tickets: Winter Wonderland entry, skating and ride tickets are sold by the organiser, not YourParkingSpace. Official details and tickets: visitcardiff.com/christmas/cardiffs-winter-wonderland (ticket page: cardiffswinterwonderland.seetickets.com/content/ticket-options). Fairground rides are pay as you use at the kiosks.

Busiest times: the Christmas period is the busiest and skating sessions are expected to sell out. Book parking early for these.

Cardiff Christmas Market is a separate event from Winter Wonderland, with a separate organiser.

Dates: Thursday 12 November to Wednesday 23 December 2026

Opening hours: Monday to Saturday 10am to 6pm; Sundays 10am to 5pm; Thursdays in December until 7pm

Where: St John Street, Working Street, Trinity Street and Hills Street

Entry: free

There is no dedicated parking at Cardiff Castle or City Hall Lawn, and there is no parking at Cardiff Christmas Market itself. You can book a private space in Cardiff city centre through YourParkingSpace. Choose your arrival and leaving times, pay online and get directions to your space.

By car: book a space in Cardiff city centre before you travel and follow the directions in your booking.

By train, bus or coach: public transport is advisable at peak times, but drivers who book ahead avoid searching for a space.

Most YourParkingSpace locations are on private land, so Blue Badge concessions, including free parking, are set by the individual Space Owner or parking operator. Unless a listing explicitly says a concession is available, standard parking charges apply. Some locations have designated disabled bays, but availability varies and cannot be guaranteed. Where available, this is shown on the listing. A disabled bay does not automatically provide free parking, and we cannot reserve disabled bays in advance unless the listing says otherwise. You still need to book if you have a Blue Badge, for the full duration of your stay, and park only within your booked dates and times. If you park in a designated disabled bay, or the location requires it, display your Blue Badge clearly. Failing to do so, or parking in a disabled bay without authorisation, may result in a Parking Charge Notice. On-street Blue Badge concessions do not automatically apply in private car parks, so check the listing carefully before booking.

The event organiser lists accessible ice skating sessions at Cardiff’s Winter Wonderland. Check the organiser’s page for details: visitcardiff.com/christmas/cardiffs-winter-wonderland
