Edinburgh Castle is about 15 minutes’ walk away and is one of the oldest fortified places in Europe. There’s evidence of human activity here from as early as the 2nd century. The current castle was built in the 12th century and is where you’ll find St Margaret's Chapel, the oldest surviving building in Edinburgh.
