Cardiff City Stadium, which is known as Stadiwm Dinas Caerdydd in Welsh, has been the home of Cardiff City FC since 2009. Prior to this they had a 99-year tenancy at Ninian Park which was demolished when the team moved.
Referred to as The Bluebirds by their fans, Cardiff City FC have a proud history in the football league, winning the FA Cup in 1927 and famously beating Real Madrid in the 1971 quarter final of the Cup Winners Cup. The stadium is also the home of the Wales National football team and has hosted rugby world cups and seen many Welsh rugby union teams play there.
Cardiff Stadium is the second largest stadium in Wales, the largest being the Millennium Stadium, which is on Westgate Street, and it currently has a capacity of 33,280. While the stadium has many modern features, it does not have the retractable roof that the Millennium Stadium has.
The stadium is served by Ninian Park Halt, which is roughly a 5-minute walk from Cardiff City Stadium and provides services that go to Cardiff Central. Alternatively, Cardiff Central is a 30 minutes walk from the ground. Many fans like to travel by car, but this means that parking spaces are needed, and plenty of them. Matchday parking can be pre-booked near Cardiff City Stadium to ensure cheaper, guaranteed spaces via YourParkingSpace. If you are looking for a car park close to the stadium they are few and far between and will, of course, get full very quickly on match days.
If you live close to the stadium and have a parking space of your own that is not in use, you could advertise it with us and earn additional money. It is fast and easy to do and we handle all the online details while you get the cash, what could be better?
For anyone who is looking for a pre-match distraction, the best place to visit is the city centre, which has a wide variety of restaurants, bars, shopping centres, Cardiff Castle and the National Museum Cardiff.
